ID Jane is a comprehensive identification system that was created based on a need to provide peace of mind and security to clients. ID Jane is a visual based system that aligns a single, custom image with each person. This familiar visual is specific to each individual and is recognizable to caregivers, patients, family members, and staff. The goal of ID Jane is to alleviate frustrations by providing an organized system.
As Wayne Dyer stated, “If you change the way you look at things, the things you look at change”. This is where ID Jane is an asset and benefit to your patients. As a patient makes life changes and transitions into a care facility while also facing mental challenges such as dementia and Alzheimer’s, how the change is perceived is pivotal in its success. Instead of seeing a standard care facility we want to change how the process looks to the family members and patient. ID Jane brings familiarity, warmth, and a sense of home to each patient though its recognition system. By providing a more customized living space through this image recognition it is our hope that the patient feels secure in this environment. Living space ideas that can be customized can include:
The customization of personal items is a trend right now, but it can also be a great organizational opportunity as well for care facilities. Customizing personal items with the single image allows the caregiver to easily recognize who it belongs to and gives a sense of peace and comfort to the patient through repetitive familiarity. Another feature of ID Jane, regarding personal items, is that it allows family members to purchase gifts or special items and the single image theme is the constant. We have the option of setting up a family member portal for ordering or purchasing these items. We can utilize vinyl, screen printing, patches, or embroidery depending upon the item. Some examples include:
Clothing
Linens

It is common knowledge that turnover in the medical industry is significant. In the medical industry another common obstacle is rotating shifts. In both situations there can be gaps in communication and confusion during the transition. These obstacles can lead already confused patients to become agitated, can lead to misplacement of items, and can cause opportunities for mistakes to occur in patient care. The ID Jane system can lessen the stress that can be experienced by patients because of the repetitive, single image concept.
While the changes occur, the patient will have peace and security within their living spaces and routines because the image remains constant. The ID Jane system also alleviates obstacles for staff. As new staff are onboarded, they can quickly learn the image attached to each patient and recognize it easily. As the staff rotates shifts, they will also become familiar with each patient and their image. It provides a way to organize, recognize, and mitigate loss of items, mix up of items, and lessens the possibility of mistakes. This system is not to replace numbered systems and requirements but to enhance them by providing recognition. The care facility can continue with the image theme even with staff members by embroidering or screen-printing scrubs with an image the staff member selects. The options are limitless, and we are always adding possibilities to the system.
Laundry services are an essential aspect of any care facility. Assuring that laundry is properly handled and returned to the correct person is important. With ID Jane we want to take identification to the next level. We would continue the theme of a familiar single image attached to each patient. We would then be able to heat seal, heat dye transfer, stamp, patch, screen print, or embroider items with this image for easy recognition. Some examples of laundry service items include:
Linens
Failure to properly sterilize and launder items correctly can promote a bacteria friendly environment. In any care facility bodily fluids are common and it is important to properly care for these items and prevent contamination. We will soon be providing all laundering service options to include pick up, cleaning, and drop off. Hypoallergenic options will be available.

"Ma Housch" (1925 - 2013)
Ma Housch was the mother-in-law of ID Jane founder, Robin Housch. Ma Housch was a loved, gentle, open minded, caring, spunky, and wonderful woman. Even when times were difficult or in times of need, she always tried to treat everyone with fairness and kindness. Ma Housch was a wife, a mother of six, and grandmother to eleven,
When thinking of Ma Housch, one thinks of a gentle breeze blowing over a small creek as a porch swing slowly moving as if time were standing still in that moment and all was peaceful. Ma Housch loved to sit on her porch swing in the tranquility and simplicity of life as a Christian woman, listening to the babbling brook, praying, and talking about life. This is how she will always be remembered.
At the youthful age of 83, Ma Housch fell and broke her hip. While there was plenty of family available and willing to help, she insisted on going into a care facility. She cared so much for others that she did not want them to stop their own lives when a facility would provide the needed assistance.
During her stay in the care facility, Ma Housch suffered from pneumonia and had to utilize a feeding tube. She was well taken care of and did make a full recovery. However, during this time there was some confusion and loss of her personal items in the hustle and bustle of daily care.
It was the loss of items that resulted in Robin Housch, founder of ID Jane, to realize that this type of situation could be remedied by recognition and organization. Not only would this provide a relief of frustration to family members and care givers, but it would also provide a sense of security to the patients.
Robin created this system with not only Ma Housch in mind but also based on her personal experience working in care facilitates. During her six years working in this capacity, she spent a lot of time organizing and ensuring patient items were in the correct room and area. She became aware of the loss of time and resources with staff turnover as a result of new employees learning the position and trying to maintain organization.
